Day Care

 Day Care and Respite Services:

Elderly woman smiling with her Great Grand Niece

As part of our development plan for the service provided at The Chace, we are currently exploring the possibility of providing some Day Care places and possibly respite beds to support people with Dementia to stay at home with carers for longer.  It is anticipated that these services could be ready for the summer of 2011.

 These services would include:

 Day care

  • Transport if required to and from the centre.
  • Hot main meals and packed tea to return home with.
  • Therapeutic activities relating to the needs of the individuals attending.
  • Health promotion and monitoring.
  • Working with other professionals to enable appointments at the centre.
  • Covering the day time hours of 8am (pick up) to 5pm (drop off).
  • Personal care such as bathing or showering.
  • Five days a week Monday to Friday.

Respite Services

  • These would be available as a priority to day care attendees.
  • Would cover overnight stays or up to 1 week.
  • Would include weekend and emergency admissions.

Meeting the cost

Day Care would be from £65 per day depending on distance travelled.

Respite would be based on the usual weekly fee (£750 – £1000) divided by the number of nights.

For those people attending the day centre no additional charge would be made for the usual days of attendance during the period of respite. Help with payment may come through the Choice and Control scheme where people can use direct payments to choose their own care. Self funding people may find that they can more easily afford a few days a week day care and manage more effectively with that level of support rather than committing immediately to the full cost of residential care.
